Being a Scot myself, would have to admit that the great game of golf began in Scotland. It is true that many countries and cultures throughout history have hit a bullet or a stone with a curved stick to the end but went to the Scots "invented" the most important of all - the golf hole.
The game Golf has its origins in the east coast of Scotland in the flat sandy terrain between the cities and the coast in the 15th century. These lands, called links, were generally well trodden under foot of men and horses coming and going to the coast makes for smooth areas between the vegetation. As I said, other countries like Holland, were also beaten with sticks, rocks along the shore, but in Scotland someone had the bright idea of making a rabbit hole on the fate of the stone or stone that brought the whole point of golf - to win the person who obtained his rock on the first hole.
To play, golf became a game played by gentlemen who became so popular that King Jacques banned the game for some time in the 15th century, because it took time away from archery practice. Finally, however, the fee was for the game, so that even the King James began playing and Mary Queen of Scots enjoyed the game The first recorded purchase custom made golf clubs are made by the king Jacques in 1502.
In the early 18th century, the Gentleman Golfers of Leith presented the first golf course and wrote the first formal set rules Course 1744.They were also the first to create a trophy for a club championship. Ten Years later, the St. Andrew Society of Golfers was trained and St. Andrews became the home of golf. Interestingly, most of these rules are still valid 250 years ago today.
At this time, the golf team began to improve greatly. The golf clubs were hand made from hardwoods such as oak and walnut by skilled craftsmen. Pebbles and stones have been replaced by the leather ball greatly improved, which was stuffed with feathers. The golf courses are planned and designed to include sand traps and greens instead of touching the earth. However, most links courses in Scotland today still retains the original atmosphere of the original ratio in golf has been played for the first time.
In the early years, there were many "golf" used by local actors. The initial course was a variable number of holes, depending on location and local soil conditions. Reference Golf in Edinburgh, St. Andrews and Leith, said that the game is played from 1461 courses ranging from 8 holes to 22 holes. But the 18 holes (The Old Course), constructed St. Andrews in 1764 could have set the standard for the modern golf. The Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews, is one of two organizations that control golf around the world today.
